Home again

Dennis got discharged on Wednesday, August 16th. His heart checked out great. No blockages or myocardiopathy. This means Dennis can continue his immunotherapy, per the cardiologist. We have a follow-up with his oncologist this coming Monday.

One concern while in the hospital was that Dennis's blood pressure was continually elevated. The hospitalist started him on blood pressure medicine. Since he started taking it, he no longer has that chest pressure that he had been experiencing. We count that as a 'win' for being in the hospital for 5 days.

There wasn't enough fluid in Dennis's abdomen to drain off. He lost 8 pounds while in the hospital and we attribute that to getting his blood pressure controlled better! That's definitely something we'll ask the doctor about.

A few of  Dennis's co-workers came to the hospital. He was so excited to see them and said 'I forgot for a little while I have cancer' It really lifted his spirits.

My best friend, Cindy and her husband Lonnie, came up from the Hemet area for a quick, overnight visit. We sure enjoyed them being here.

This morning before they left, we went to breakfast. Our high school drama teacher, Glen, and his wife Sandy, joined us! It was fun reminiscing and Glen telling us all his teaching stories. (We called him Glen even when we went to high school!) See the photos below.

Glen and Sandy go to church with our next door neighbor. Their congregation also has Dennis on their prayer list. It's such a comfort to know of all the prayers being offered on his behalf.

I'll update next week after Dennis's meeting with the oncologist.

Love and Hugs,

Sharon and Dennis
