It was a long day for Dennis. His treatment was about 5 hours. The first hour he sat next to his mom. It's unfortunate that they both have cancer, but a blessing that they lift each other's spirits while receiving their infusions.
Dennis wasn't feeling great when he got hooked up to his IV, but last night at bedtime he said he wasn't feeling any pain. So far this morning still no pain. It will be nice for however long this lasts. He seems to get an energy boost after his treatments. Sometimes they last a few hours and up to 36 hours. It's these times, when he's not in pain that life feels 'normal'. We'll take however long the effects last. It's a nice respite from when he doesn't feel well.
Dennis is scheduled next Wednesday, October 4th for his next treatment. It will be chemo only. He only gets his immunotherapy once a month.
Dr Spillane has submitted a prior authorization with the insurance for Dennis to get a CT scan to check the size of the tumor and lesions. This will let us know if the chemo and immunotherapy are helping.
In other news:
We were able to go to Bakersfield last Saturday and enjoy a little family celebration. It was our youngest grandchild, Nathaniel's 1st birthday. He has brought a lot of joy to everyone this last year. Dennis was a little weary from traveling. He was able to take a little nap at Chris's while we were there. We got to spend the day with Chris's family. I'm including a couple of pictures.
We are making some changes in our back yard. We let our small patch of grass die off and a landscape company is putting in artificial grass and a packed sand border. We thought it would be nice to save on water and neither of us having to mow the yard. I'll put in some pictures when it's done.
I'm enjoying staying home and spending time with my husband.
Blessings to all,
Sharon and Dennis
